Public Educational Programs
In addition to our displays and exhibits, the Lyman Museum serves the public through a variety of learning experiences. Please call the Education Department at 808-935-5021 for more information.
Patricia E. Saigo public programming
The Saigo Series of public programming, usually offered on Monday evenings throughout the year, comprises lectures, demonstrations, “talk story” sessions, performances, book signings, and other presentations of community interest on Hawai’i-related topics. Admission is free to Museum members or $3 for nonmembers, which may be applied to the cost of a new membership. Go to the Saigo Series page for current schedule.
Museum and Mission House Tours for School Groups
For school groups (pre-K through university) and other groups, the Lyman Museum provides interpretive tours for the Museum’s galleries and the Mission House. Tours can be customized to emphasize a class’s curricular focus. Please fill out a form here if you are interested in a group tour.
Public Workshops
Twice each year the Museum offers workshops on the creation of traditional-style Ni’ihau shell jewelry, led by master Ni’ihau lei maker Kele Kanahele. A parol-making workshop is offered during the Christmas season. Other workshops teaching local crafts are in development. Go to workshop page for current schedule.
