The Lyman Museum regularly offers special exhibits as a means of sharing knowledge and constantly providing new learning opportunities and enjoyment to the community.
Special exhibits offered at the Museum have ranged from locally based subjects such as “Lei Hulu” (featuring traditional Hawaiian feather work skillfully created by Lei Hulu of Hilo), to regional exhibits like “Sasana: The Burma Portfolio,” featuring images of the Burmese people and their surroundings by a noted Hawai’i-based photographer.
An upcoming favorite with the community will be the second John Howard Pierce Photograph exhibit, opening May 20, 2016. This exhibit will feature photographs of HawaiÔi Island, during the time before and after Statehood, that have already been identified by the community. This will also be an opportunity to view additional photographs which have not yet been identified. The Museum appreciates and relies on the community’s involvement with the Pierce Photo Identification Project. Come and reminisce with us!
