Women’s History Month

In 1964, the people of Hawaiʻi elected Patsy Mink to the U.S. House of Representatives. Mink, the first Asian-American woman to serve in Congress, realized the many contributions and accomplishments of the diverse women of Hawaiʻi. These photos illustrate some of the vital roles of women in Hawaiʻi.

The Lyman Museum preserves thousands of photographs of Hawaiʻi people and places. The Archives is open for research by appointment. Learn more at https://lymanmuseum.org/archives/research-collection/.
